Raiders stars endorse Indigenous Expo

Canberra Raiders and Indigenous All-Stars players Tom Learoyd-Lahrs and Joel Thompson attended a special expo in Canberra today, aimed at improving Indigenous employment, education and training.

The Indigenous Employment, Education and Training Expo is aimed to demonstrate the important nexus between the employment and training of Indigenous jobseekers, corporate business, industry, Education and Training Institutions, school leavers and the wider community.

Important stakeholders in these key areas came together to showcase their innovative and creative solutions and through this collaboration the real opportunities for jobseekers will produce significant benefits to employers.

Proud Indigenous player Tom Learoyd-Lahrs said the event was a great way to see the opportunities on offer for young indigenous Australians and said it’s great to know there are pathways out there for young indigenous people.

“These types of events really open your eyes to some fantastic opportunities out there for young indigenous people and if we can use our profile to help promote events like this more people will know about it,” Learoyd-Lahrs said. “I know we have a lot of young indigenous players at our club and a number of them are keen on becoming more involved with careers post footy.”
