Expo-Success
The concept was to develop and implement an Indigenous Expo for the ACT & Surrounds.
The Vision was to provide an Expo that would bring awareness to Corporate, Government, Education Institutions, School aged Children, Employers, Indigenous & Torres Strait Islanders, The Indigenous Community & the wider Community
of the support and career opportunities available to the Indigenous jobseeker and to Families who support their children in making improved pathways for their long term Education – Training - Employment
The expo attracted over 1200 attendees including students from 36 ACT and 13 NSW schools and the wider community who attended the Expo. The day was simply buzzing form the on start with people pouring in to be part of this great event.
The Rotary Club who provided Free Sausage sizzle reported providing 50 loaves of bread and 1000 sausage sandwiches on the day.
The Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Dancers along with the Fashion Parade were extremely well received. Kevin Kropinyeri (MC) kept the crowd laughing with entertainment and attendee involvement. Mark Olive (aka The Black Olive) was sensational and a high hit provided cooking demonstrations on the day.
The Expo was successful in being able to showcase holistic well rounded support services to all who attended. Feedback from those who attended has asked for this Expo to be annual event and the Planning Committee are already looking at the format and venue for next year.
Habitat Personnel acknowledge the financial support received from the Department of Employment, Education & Workplace Relations for their funding of this event.
